Pollard and Bryan take home 2020 Mike Olgesbee Classic

Giddens and Fincher win the 2019-2020 Wind Creek Bass Trail

Giddens and Fincher Take Down Big Bag for Event #4

17.60lb Bag Wins/AOY Lead Extended

For as long as I can remember Marty Giddens has been able to find quality largemouth lurking around Lake Martin. On this day it was his partner Steven Fincher who hauled in the Big Bass Award that landed these two a solid three pound win over second place Davis and Cannon. Steven caught a nice 5.88 largemouth to go with four hefty's to bring in the victory. Finding nice largemouth hasn't been an issue for this duo as they continue to lead the AOY and stretch out their margin over the team of Felton Langley and Trip Weldon. Giddens also qualifies for a Bass Pro Shops Nitro Rewards Bonus as a result of their win. Next up the March 7th WCBT Event #5.

Ward and Bobo Take Event #3

Big Fish Sunday

On a day when a 5.04lb spot was a small fish in the running for big bass Michael Ward and Dalton Bobo used consistency to win event three of the Wind Creek Bass Trail by OGS. All five of their fish were similar in size and gave them just enough to hold off anglers with big anchor largemouth bass. Three largemouth were brought to the scales that came in over 6 lbs with the largest caught by Joel Smith (6.30lbs). Ward and Bobo saw their bag of 16.47lbs hold off five other teams that came in with over fifteen pound sacks. In fact 1st thru 35th all had over ten pounds on the day. The win set Michael up for a Bass Pro Shops Nitro Rewards Program bonus as well. Congratulations to Michael Ward and Dalton Bobo.

Thompson and Eden Grab Event #2

Marty Giddens Team Takes Points Lead

Before the fog lifted on Lake Martin Sunday morning the question of how well the fish might be biting was in the air. The Wind Creek Bass Trail had moved from Saturday because of a line of storms that moved through the area between 1:30 and 3 leaving a lot of things up in the air. Heavy rain in the area had the lake stained over pretty well and debris was possible...along with a heavy fog bank that made navigating especially tough out beyond the blast off area. Anglers made it through safely but I am sure that the next time the director will make sure to head out and take a closer look before allowing the event to start. Lesson learned.

At weigh in the bags looked pretty good. A lot of 10 and 11 plus weights were coming across the scales. Then the team of Thompson and Eden showed up with 15.63lbs. Jeremy and Chad Miller followed with 15.18lbs with a spotted bass just under 5lbs to take home the big fish award but Thompson and Eden wouldn't be denied. January 12th was a spotted bass tournament with only a few largemouth weighed in. Marty Giddens and Steven Fincher came in third giving Marty the points lead heading into Event #3 on January 18th.

Howell and Lawrence Capture Event #1

Gidden/Strader Big Fish-Baker/Weldon Avg. Joe

On a day that started with overcast skies and mild temperatures the team of Heath Howell and Tim Lawrence found themselves in a good spot come weigh in. Overcoming the team of Marty Giddens and Josh Strader (having landed the big bass award at 5.46lbs and $530.00) was a challenge but they were up for it with a weight of 15.89lbs. Giddens and Strader were just behind with 15.72lbs followed by Michael Ward and Dalton Bobo with 14.54lbs. Ward noted that they lost a good 5 lbs spotted bass that could have put them over the top but overall it was a good day on the lake.

The skies opened up during the middle of the day which changed the pattern and for some made it a more difficult bite.

Shaye Baker and Ben Weldon took home the Average Joe and a cool $480.00.

The second event of the season will be held January 11th.
